Consortium with Korean Air... Selected by a Margin of 4.5 Points
Beat KAI This Year to Win Geostationary Satellite Contract

With LIG Nex1 securing a contract for the Korean-style electronic warfare aircraft (hereafter referred to as electronic warfare aircraft) project worth 1.7775 trillion won, there are projections that the company's annual revenue will surpass 4 trillion won this year.

According to government and industry sources on September 23, LIG Nex1 formed a consortium with Korean Air and successfully won the electronic warfare aircraft project. Electronic warfare aircraft are strategic weapons that neutralize enemy anti-aircraft radar using electronic equipment and jamming devices.

For this project, Korean Air will import and modify the Bombardier G6500 business jet from Canada, while LIG Nex1 will equip it with electronic warfare mission systems. The Defense Acquisition Program Administration plans to produce a total of four electronic warfare aircraft and deliver them to the Air Force. Two will be produced as Block-1, which are basic models, and the remaining two are expected to be developed later as Block-2 with enhanced performance. The term "Block" refers to the order in which performance improvements are made.

LIG Nex1 is now being recognized as a front-runner in the aviation industry thanks to this electronic warfare aircraft contract. In April, the company also beat Korea Aerospace Industries to win the development project for Cheollian Satellite 5, the nation's first civilian geostationary satellite, commissioned by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration. This is the basis for expectations that LIG Nex1 will achieve annual revenue of 4 trillion won this year. In particular, developing electronic warfare aircraft increases export potential, as only a few countries such as the United States and Russia possess related technology, and equipment specifications and software are often not disclosed even to allied nations.

The Defense Acquisition Program Administration plans to accept objections from both parties for the next two to three weeks and select the final contractor around next month.
