Ansan Wolpidong Startup Incubation Center to Be Completed in September

The 'Startup Incubation Center,' a key facility in the Wolpidong Urban Regeneration Project in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, will be completed in September.

The Ansan Wolpi Urban Regeneration Project, which was selected as a public project by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in 2018, is promoting a variety of initiatives as part of its urban regeneration revitalization plan. These include the establishment of the Gwangdeok Community Center, the implementation of a crime prevention system and improvement of street environments, support for home repairs, the creation of the Startup Incubation Center, and the enhancement of children's parks.

Wolpidong, surrounded by Gwangdeoksan Mountain and Ansancheon Stream, is a geographically isolated area. Since the development of Ansan New Town in the 1990s, the area has experienced accelerated decline, making the expansion of essential infrastructure and the revitalization of the community urgent priorities. In response, the Wolpidong Urban Regeneration Project has been sequentially establishing key facilities that integrate welfare, culture, and entrepreneurship to enhance the region's competitiveness.

The Startup Incubation Center, which is now being completed, is located at 509-15 Wolpidong, Sangnok-gu, Ansan. The building is five stories above ground and has a total floor area of 552 square meters.

It consists of spaces for youth entrepreneurship, the Startup Incubation Center, and the Startup Cube, and will serve as office and support space for prospective entrepreneurs and youth-led businesses.

By working in conjunction with the Social Economy Support Center and the Youth Cube Seoul Institute of the Arts branch, the center will provide systematic support throughout the entire entrepreneurial process. Through entrepreneurship education and public project opportunities, it is expected to help create jobs for young people and revitalize the local economy.

Ahn Seonghyeon, head of the Urban Regeneration Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "With the completion of the Welfare Community Center and the Cultural Community Center in July, the foundation for daily life and culture has been strengthened. Now, with the addition of the Startup Incubation Center, a virtuous cycle has been established in which resident welfare, culture, and employment are organically connected."
