Gyeonggi Province to Establish Six AI Clusters, Recruiting 32 Companies

Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Business & Science Accelerator have announced plans to establish six AI clusters within the province and began recruiting tenant companies on September 22.

Gyeonggi Province is building AI innovation clusters in six regions: Pangyo (the hub), Seongnam General Industrial Complex, and the local demand-driven areas of Bucheon, Siheung, Hanam, and Uijeongbu.

Tenant companies will receive tailored support that goes beyond simple office space, including smart office-based hybrid workspaces that combine online and offline environments, AI proof-of-concept support, networking opportunities among companies, and professional consulting.

Gyeonggi Province will open the 'Physical AI Lab' (a physical artificial intelligence research lab) in the Seongnam industrial complex this November. The entire cluster is scheduled for completion by February next year.

The recruitment targets are prospective entrepreneurs, startups, and venture or small and medium-sized enterprises with AI technologies and services. A total of 32 companies will be selected: six in the Physical AI Lab in Seongnam, twelve in Pangyo, five in Bucheon, five in Siheung, and four in Uijeongbu. Each applicant may select only one location for tenancy.

Applications are open from September 22 to October 21 and can be submitted online via the Gyeonggi Business Secretary (egbiz.or.kr). Companies that are members of the AI Innovation Cluster, those operating on a 4.5-day workweek, and social enterprises will receive additional points during the evaluation process.

Selected companies will be provided with a comprehensive growth support program covering everything from research and development to commercialization. Tenancy is available for up to one year from the move-in date, with a maximum stay of up to three years.

Kim Kibyung, Director of AI at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Gyeonggi Province aims to become the focal point of Korea's AI industry and a global hub through these AI clusters. Starting with six locations in 2025, we will continue to expand cluster base spaces going forward."
