Seoul City Awards Four Teams Leading "K-Architecture"... Exhibition at Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism 2025 Seoul City University (Graduate) Student Urban and Architectural Idea Award Winner Sosobang (Team Name Utopian). Seoul City

On September 23, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it has selected four winning entries from the "University (Graduate) Student Urban and Architectural Idea Competition" and will hold a collaborative exhibition with the Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism until November 18.

Under the theme "FUN CITY, Seoul," this competition focused on discovering creative and experimental ideas that can be experienced in the city. The four winning entries are Sosobang (Team Name: Utopian), Lines of Seoul (Team Name: Lim Haena), Dancheong24 (Team Name: Incheon Three), and Loop Seoul (Team Name: Seoul Loopers).

The city convened a review committee, with a panel of judges composed of external experts, mainly emerging and mid-career architects, who evaluated the entries based on thematic relevance, creativity and originality, artistic value, and feasibility.

The winning works will be presented to the public through a collaborative exhibition at Seoul Gallery in conjunction with the Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism. The exhibition will feature panels introducing each project's concept, production and operation plans, and anticipated impact.

In addition, next year, the city will provide opportunities for the actual production of the works in collaboration with emerging and mid-career architects. The city will support the production and installation of the works within the scope that does not compromise their essence, and plans to expand public participation in architectural culture through citizen-participatory exhibitions and promotional activities.

Furthermore, not only this year’s winning entries but all submissions will be compiled into a catalog to be used for educational, research, and policy purposes.

Choi Jinseok, Director of Housing at the Seoul Metropolitan Government, stated, "We expect that at the intersection of bold experimentation by young architects and the everyday lives of citizens, the exhibition and realization of these works will offer new urban experiences in Seoul," adding, "We will actively discover and support future talent so that Seoul can lead global architectural culture."
