Gijang County (Governor Jeong Jongbok) is actively conducting promotional activities centered around the Gijang County Dementia Relief Center to mark the 18th Dementia Overcoming Day on September 21.
On September 16, a campaign was held at Gochon Humancia Apartments under the slogan, "A society where you can feel secure even with dementia, a warm world living together."
The event featured participation from partner organizations such as Busan Senior Specialized Hospital No. 3 and local leaders, offering a variety of programs including: writing messages of hope for overcoming dementia, a dementia awareness quiz, dementia prevention experience booths, a promotional photo zone, an exhibition of seniors' artwork, information on dementia-related initiatives, and counseling on the prevention of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. The event received an enthusiastic response.
Additionally, throughout September, the Gijang County Dementia Relief Center plans to continue its promotional efforts through various media such as card news, posters, and banners. The center will also conduct on-site cognitive screening tests at senior centers, provide awareness education in collaboration with Dementia Relief Villages and leading organizations, and identify new dementia-friendly businesses.
One participating resident shared, "Through this event, I was able to directly experience and understand the importance of dementia prevention and management."
A center representative also stated, "We will continue our efforts to provide accurate understanding and information about dementia."
