Song Suknam, Chairperson of Hosim Academy Foundation, has organized a special exhibition titled "New York Popup: Traveler, New York," which combines inspiration gained from a trip to New York with artificial intelligence technology.
Opening on September 18 and running until the end of next month in the lobby on the third floor of the Hosim Memorial Library at Gwangju University, this exhibition captures a journey set against the backdrop of New York, the world’s center of culture and art, where art and technology converge to open new horizons of creativity. It also demonstrates that a library can transform from a space that simply houses books into a vibrant cultural hub where knowledge and art come alive.
Chairperson Song stated, "The theme of travel, the Statue of Liberty, renowned art galleries and museums, the joy of discovering even small new things while staying in New York, the fun of collecting colorful merchandise in a bag, stacks of books and book curation, the imagination shared with ChatGPT, and late-night work sessions-all of these became rich sources of inspiration." She added, "I sincerely hope that the Hosim Memorial Library will become the cultural heart of Gwangju University, a beloved place where people want to stay."
Kim Dongjin, President of Gwangju University, said, "Bringing New York, the world’s cultural, political, and economic capital, into our university space and linking it with the library’s book curation is a truly innovative idea. I hope that the global perspective-that what is most unique to Gwangju University is also the most global-will be fully conveyed to our students."
