Damyang County (Governor Jeong Cheolwon) announced on September 22 that it recently signed an investment agreement with Meomuldam Co., Ltd. to promote the 'Meomuldam Recreation Forest Development Project' in the Won-yul-ri area of Geumseong-myeon.
Under the agreement, Damyang County will provide administrative support to ensure the smooth progress of the Meomuldam Recreation Forest Development Project. Meomuldam Co., Ltd. plans to invest 80 billion won and contribute to revitalizing the local economy by hiring local talent and purchasing locally produced goods.
The Meomuldam Recreation Forest will be developed on a 360,000-square-meter site in Geumseong-myeon with an investment of 80 billion won. By 2028, the project aims to establish themed gardens, a sculpture park, walking trails, an outdoor swimming pool, a monorail, and other experience facilities, as well as around 70 accommodation facilities including apartment-style hotels and standalone pensions. Plans also include public contributions such as discounts for local residents.
The county expects that the Meomuldam Recreation Forest, in connection with Geumseongsanseong Fortress, the Bamboo Ecology Park, and the Korea Garden Culture Center, will maximize tourism benefits, create over 50 new jobs, and increase local tax revenue.
Governor Jeong Cheolwon stated, "The development of the Meomuldam Recreation Forest will serve as an opportunity to expand stay-type tourism in connection with Damyang's natural resources," adding, "We will spare no administrative support to ensure the smooth implementation of the project."
