Explanation of Early Promotion for Preliminary Feasibility Study on Mujoo-Seongju-Daegu Expressway
Request for Support Including Construction Costs for Seongju Station on the Southern Inland High-Speed Railway
On September 22, Seongju County visited the Government Complex Seoul to congratulate Koo Yoonchul, a native of Byeokjin-myeon in Seongju County, on his inauguration as Deputy Prime Minister for Economy and Minister of Economy and Finance, and to present key regional development projects.
The delegation included Seongju County Governor Lee Byunghwan, county council members, relevant public officials, the head of the Social Organizations Council, the head of the Village Leaders Association, the head of the Women's Organizations Council, and about 10 other representatives of the region.
Seongju County explained major projects directly related to residents' lives, such as the selection of the East-West Axis 3 (Mujoo-Seongju-Daegu section) expressway construction as a candidate for the preliminary feasibility study, and support for the construction costs of Seongju Station on the Southern Inland High-Speed Railway. The county requested active interest and support from the central government to ensure smooth progress of these initiatives.
In addition, the delegation shared development tasks in core local sectors such as industry, agriculture, and tourism, and discussed cooperation measures to revitalize the local economy and improve living conditions.
Lee Byunghwan, Governor of Seongju County, said, "I sincerely congratulate the Deputy Prime Minister, who is from my hometown, on his inauguration," and added, "I ask for your full support and encouragement so that Seongju County's long-awaited projects can be promoted as soon as possible."
He continued, "Together with the residents, I will devote all our capabilities to making Seongju a better place to live," emphasizing, "This meeting will serve as an opportunity to accelerate the resolution of county issues and to lay the foundation for future growth."
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister for Economy Koo Yoonchul was born in Seongju, North Gyeongsang Province, in 1965. He graduated from the Department of Economics at Seoul National University and entered public service through the 32nd National Civil Service Examination. He is known as a leading 'budget expert,' having served as the Second Vice Minister of Economy and Finance and as Minister of Government Policy Coordination under the Moon Jaein administration.
