On September 22, thirty students from specialized high schools in Daejeon departed for Brisbane, Australia to participate in the global on-site learning program, the "Australia Internship."

This vocational high school global on-site learning program, the Australia Internship, will be conducted in Brisbane for ten weeks until November 30. Thirty third-year students, selected from ten specialized high schools, will participate in four fields: culinary arts, architecture (tiling), media content, and major-related services.

Since May, the students have undergone three months of preliminary English education and intensive language training at specialized institutions. From September 15 to 16, they also attended a one-night, two-day safety and awareness camp, where they received safety training, gender equality education, and first aid training.

While in Brisbane, the students will receive job-related English and vocational training in their respective fields, as well as participate in industry-based on-site learning aimed at employment in Australia.

Upon completion of the program, the students will be supported through connections with educational and related institutions to help them realize their dreams of working in Australia. The program aims to strengthen their global competencies, laying the foundation for successful overseas employment and fostering their growth as global citizens.

Meanwhile, the vocational high school global on-site learning program has been operated by the Daejeon Office of Education in Australia since 2012 as an exemplary program for nurturing global talent. By 2024, a total of 450 students have participated, and since last year, the program has expanded to include Germany in addition to Australia.

Kim Youngjin, Director of Science and Vocational Information at the Daejeon Office of Education, stated, "This on-site learning program is more than just an overseas experience; it is a valuable opportunity to broaden perspectives and develop skills by directly experiencing diverse cultures and industries. We will actively support the students so that this can lead to overseas employment."
