Jeollanam-do announced that the 2025 Battle of Myeongnyang Festival, which concluded on the 21st, attracted more than 178,000 visitors with creative content that fused the region's traditional culture and cutting-edge digital technology, opening a new chapter as one of Korea's leading historical and cultural festivals.

This year's Battle of Myeongnyang Festival, themed "Immortal Myeongnyang! Uldolmok of National Defense," was held for three days from September 19 at the Haenam Usuyeong Tourist Site and Jindo Nokjin Tourist Site.

The festival featured a departure parade with more than 1,200 participants, including residents from eight cities and counties along the Haenam and Jindo naval reconstruction route, the Navy band, and foreign tourists; the Jindo Funeral Song Parade; a Panokseon launching performance and a Battle of Myeongnyang-themed show; a Navy & Coast Guard vessel parade; a Peace Funeral Song Parade with more than 2,000 participants from seven towns in Jindo; and more than 100 diverse events and hands-on programs prepared by both cities and counties, such as the National Ganggangsullae dance.

The main performance, which drew the most attention, was an action spectacle featuring a giant stage recreating the Panokseon warship from the naval battle, advanced digital technology, and a fireworks show by the actors. This immersive experience captivated the audience and received an enthusiastic response.

The appearance of naval forces from eight cities and counties interacting with the audience, the reading of military reports, and a large-scale participatory event with all spectators elevated the victory to its climax, leaving a deep impression on everyone present.

Additionally, a variety of hands-on programs for all ages, such as the changing of the guards, a youth song festival, a trot and K-pop random dance, and an arm-wrestling competition, as well as diverse attractions including the Yakmuhonam ritual, Ogugut shamanistic performance, Navy band concert, Jindo Buknori drumming, Namdo field songs, and Jindo Ganggangsullae contest, offered visitors special memories.

The Navy band's powerful performance and the spectacular naval vessel parade demonstrated how the spirit of national defense from the Battle of Myeongnyang continues to inspire maritime security today, giving visitors a sense of pride and deep emotion.

Yoo Hyunho, Director of Tourism and Sports at Jeonnam Province, stated, "The Battle of Myeongnyang Festival is evolving into a world-class historical and cultural festival held at Uldolmok, the site of national defense. We will continue to enhance Jeonnam's global tourism profile by developing creative content that fuses our region's traditional culture, such as the Funeral Song Parade and Usuyeong Field Songs, with the latest digital technology."
