Gyeonggi Province Supports 200 Residents in New Employment and Entrepreneurship Starts Through Retry School

Since May of this year, Gyeonggi Province has produced a total of 200 graduates through the "Retry School" program.

The Gyeonggi Retry School is a residential program that provides healing and job skill training to residents who have experienced psychological difficulties due to failed startups or job loss. After a successful three-night, four-day pilot run last year, the program was expanded to four nights and five days this year in response to strong demand.

The program was held at locations such as "Gipeunsansok Ongdalsaem" in Chungju, the YBM Training Center in Hwaseong, and the Island Castle Hotel in Uijeongbu. It combined healing sessions for psychological recovery, training to strengthen employment and entrepreneurship skills, and GPT-based artificial intelligence (AI) training, all of which helped boost participants' confidence and practical abilities.

Key elements of the program included special lectures by prominent figures such as comedian Ko Myunghwan and author Ko Dowon, expert consulting based on analysis of failure causes, customized employment and entrepreneurship education, and case studies.

As a result of last year's pilot program, 40% of graduates succeeded in making a new attempt within six months.

Starting this year, the program has strengthened its customized employment and entrepreneurship support by collaborating with the Gyeonggi Lifelong Education Promotion Agency, the Gyeonggi Job Foundation, and the Gyeonggi Market and Commercial Area Promotion Agency.

Oh Gwangseok, Director of the Future Lifelong Education Bureau of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Empathizing with the pain of failure and providing opportunities for recovery are the true starting points for a new challenge. Next year, we will continue to be a strong partner so that even more residents can find the courage to open new paths."
