Gyeonggi Province Residents Policy Festival to Be Held at Dodamteul, Suwon on the 26th

Gyeonggi Province will host the 7th Gyeonggi Province Residents Policy Festival, a forum for deliberative democracy where residents directly participate in proposing and deciding policies, at Dodamteul in the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Complex on September 26.

The theme of this year’s policy festival is “Gyeonggi Province: A Safe, Comfortable, and Harmonious Place for Single-Person Households.”

The event aims to develop customized policies that reflect the diverse voices of the 1.71 million single-person households in Gyeonggi Province, which has the largest population of single-person households nationwide, and to expand various support policies for these residents.

In preparation for the festival, Gyeonggi Province visited 21 cities and counties within the province, including Suwon, Uijeongbu, and Namyangju, since June to gather opinions from residents of various backgrounds regarding policies for single-person households. Additionally, an online survey collected input from over 3,600 residents.

The festival will feature a “Single-Person Household Empathy Talk Concert” with comedian Kim Wonhun, a screening of the film “Aloners” followed by a conversation with the director, and a celebratory performance by trot singer No Jihoon.

There will also be side events such as policy booths, a flea market, and a prize drawing.

Kim Junghoon, Director of Communication and Cooperation at Gyeonggi Province, stated, “The Gyeonggi Province Residents Policy Festival is a key pledge by Governor Kim Dongyeon to share the voices of residents from all walks of life and turn them into provincial policies. This year’s festival is designed to foster empathy for the lives of single-person households and to prepare policies for a more inclusive society in Gyeonggi Province.”
