Damyang County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Jung Chulwon) announced on September 21 that it will offer free admission to major paid tourist attractions within the county for residents of local governments with which it has established sister city or friendly exchange relationships.

This policy was introduced to simultaneously strengthen ties between exchange cities and revitalize the local economy by attracting more tourists. The county plans to continue actively developing exchange cooperation and resident-friendly programs in the future.

The tourist attractions offering free admission are Damyang's signature sites: Juknokwon Bamboo Garden, Metasequoia Land, and the Korea Bamboo Museum. Residents must present identification or other supporting documents verifying their status as residents of sister city or friendly exchange local governments.

Currently, Damyang County has sister city or friendly exchange relationships with twelve local governments: Dalseong County in Daegu, Seongbuk District in Seoul, Yongsan District in Seoul, Seo District in Daejeon, Gyeryong City in South Chungcheong Province, Jecheon City in North Chungcheong Province, Shinan County in South Jeolla Province, Nam District in Gwangju, Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province, Sunchang County in North Jeolla Province, Jungnang District in Seoul, and Uljin County in North Gyeongsang Province.

Governor Jung Chulwon stated, "We expect this policy to not only promote friendship between regions, but also significantly contribute to revitalizing tourism in Damyang and fostering coexistence with local businesses. We will continue to focus administrative efforts on increasing the inflow of residents and promoting Damyang's cultural and tourism resources through a variety of exchange policies."

Meanwhile, Gamagol Ecological Park, one of Damyang County's major tourist attractions, will be open free of charge to all visitors starting October 1. The county plans to promote Damyang as the source of the Yeongsan River and its pristine natural environment, operating the park as a public ecological space where both residents and tourists can enjoy together.
