Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province, led by Mayor Joo Gwangdeok, successfully hosted the "19th Namyangju Mayor's Tennis Tournament" on September 20 at seven venues, including the tennis courts at Namyangju Sports and Culture Center. A total of 300 teams, comprising 600 players, participated in the tournament, with matches continuing until the evening of September 21.

Organized to promote community sports and enhance public health, the tournament fostered intergenerational communication and interaction through tennis, while also providing an opportunity for club members to strengthen their camaraderie.
During the event, more than 780 tennis enthusiasts and citizens from the local area visited to watch the matches. Participants competed passionately in various divisions according to age and skill level.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mayor Joo Gwangdeok, Choi Minhee, National Assembly member for Namyangju (Gap), Lee Byeonggil, member of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council, Yoon Sunghyun, president of the Namyangju Sports Council, Kim Jinsu, president of the Namyangju Tennis Association, as well as association officials, who personally encouraged and congratulated the participants.
This tournament was held simultaneously at seven locations, including the Namyangju Sports and Culture Center. Participants showcased their honed skills at each venue, while citizens enjoyed the excitement of sports, sharing cheers and support under the autumn sun.
Through this tournament, the city expanded opportunities for citizens to participate in sports activities and established a new turning point for fostering a sports-based culture. The city plans to continue expanding community sports tournaments across various disciplines in the future.
Mayor Joo Gwangdeok stated, "Community sports are truly the path to a healthy and happy life for all citizens," adding, "The city will continue to expand sports infrastructure and provide administrative support so that everyone, regardless of age or gender, can enjoy at least one sport."
Kim Jinsu, president of the Namyangju Tennis Association, remarked, "This tournament was a meaningful occasion where citizens who love tennis could come together in harmony and communication. Moving forward, the association will continue to organize various programs and tournaments to ensure more citizens can experience and enjoy tennis."
