The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 21st that it will hold an 'Explanation Session on High School Admission Guidelines' for third-year middle school students and their parents at 7 p.m. on the 30th in the main auditorium of the Education Research and Information Center.
During the session, the office will provide information on the admission guidelines for autonomous public high schools, science-focused schools, Meister high schools, specialized high schools, special-purpose high schools, arts high schools, and physical education high schools, as well as general high schools in the regular admission process. There will also be a Q&A session. Applications to participate can be submitted online until the 23rd, and on-site registration is also available. For parents who cannot attend in person, the session will be broadcast live on the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education's YouTube channel.
High school application submissions will begin on October 20 with industry-customized Meister high schools and Gwangju-type Meister high schools, followed by Gwangju Arts High School on October 21, Gwangju Physical Education High School on November 3, and specialized high schools on November 24. On December 16, applications for standardized general high schools, including autonomous public high schools and science-focused high schools, will take place. The announcement of successful applicants for standardized general high schools is scheduled for January 8 next year, and school assignments will be announced on January 22.
Some early admission processes will change. Gwangju Arts High School will switch to an absolute evaluation method for academic achievement and will abolish the special admission track based on school records. Songwon Girls' Commercial High School will change its name to Songwon Future Talent High School and become coeducational. Gwangju Technical High School will reduce the number of classes, and Geumpa Technical High School will recruit new students by department.
The Office of Education will also hold a teacher explanation session at 3 p.m. on the 25th in the main auditorium of the Citizens' Cooperation Promotion Center for third-year middle school head teachers, teachers in charge of high school admission grading, and career guidance teachers. This session will provide information on admission guidelines for early and general high schools, a manual for the school record calculation program, and a manual for the application submission process.
