Recognized for Achievements in Establishing and Operating a Monitoring System for Harmful Youth Environments
Yanggu County has been selected as an outstanding institution in the youth sector in the 2025 Government Joint Evaluation organized by Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province.
For this award, Wonju was honored among cities within Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, while Yanggu County received the honor among counties. The awards ceremony will be held on the 22nd in Yeongwol during the 14th Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Youth Leaders Conference in 2025.
Yanggu County received high marks for establishing and operating a monitoring system for harmful environments affecting youth. The county conducted joint inspections involving both public and private sectors on key occasions, carried out its own inspections and enforcement against harmful environments, and designated and operated the "Yanggu County Youth Harmful Environment Monitoring Group" to help create a safe environment for youth to grow.
Additionally, Yanggu County regularly held meetings with youth participation organizations to reflect young people's voices in policy, and operated a KakaoTalk channel for youth to establish an online communication platform. Through these and other activities, the county made significant contributions to achieving the indicators for the Government Joint Evaluation.
Seo Heungwon, Mayor of Yanggu County, stated, "This award is the result of joint efforts by both the public and private sectors to protect youth and create a sound environment for their growth," adding, "We will continue to implement various support policies to ensure that young people can grow up safely and happily, and strive to build a community where youth are respected."
