"Strict Adherence to On-site Safety Rules and Renewed Determination Required"
Gangseo District in Seoul (Mayor Jin Gyohoon) held the "On-site Work Safety Pledge Ceremony" at the district office on the 19th, reaffirming its commitment to creating workplaces free from safety accidents.
This event was organized to demonstrate the district's strong determination to establish safe work environments following the death of a worker from a cleaning service contractor on the 18th. More than 90 representatives and officials from contractors handling on-site work for the district, including cleaning, parks and green spaces, roads, sewage, and public facilities, attended the ceremony.

Mayor Jin and the other participants signed the pledge, jointly committing to practical efforts to prevent industrial accidents. The pledge includes action items for fulfilling safety and health obligations, such as prioritizing the lives and safety of Gangseo residents and workers, establishing a safety and health management system to create safe workplaces, complying with on-site safety rules, and continuously conducting safety training for all employees to spread a culture of safety.
Following the ceremony, industrial accident prevention training was conducted, focusing on real-life scenarios that may occur on-site.
Mayor Jin stated, "As mayor, I am deeply saddened by this tragic accident," adding, "The district recognizes the seriousness and urgency of the current situation, and we will make every possible effort to create safe workplaces and prevent similar incidents from recurring."
Mayor Jin further emphasized, "Safety accidents can happen at any time if there are even minor shortcomings or lapses in vigilance on-site. We must once again recognize the importance of on-site safety rules and renew our extraordinary resolve to uphold them."
