The police have summoned a civic group that filed a complaint against Kim Byung-ki, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, over allegations that he intervened in his son's university transfer process, and will question them as part of their investigation.

The Dongjak Police Station in Seoul notified a representative of the Committee for Public Livelihood Measures on the 19th to appear for questioning as the complainant on the 24th.

The committee filed a complaint against Floor Leader Kim with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on September 10, accusing him of abuse of authority and obstruction of business, among other charges. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency then assigned the case to the Dongjak Police Station.

In its complaint, the committee stated, "The irresponsibility of the accused is likely to cause further confusion for the many students preparing for university transfers," and urged, "We call for a prompt and thorough investigation to uncover the facts of the crime."

Previously, Newstapa reported that Floor Leader Kim met with the president of Soongsil University and others in an attempt to facilitate his second son's transfer, and that he allegedly mobilized a Dongjak District Council member and aides in the process.

In response to the report, Floor Leader Kim dismissed it as "a classic example of fake news that did not even verify the basic background or facts," and announced plans to take legal action.
