Gyeongnam and Ulaanbaatar Launch First Official Exchange ... Local Elevator Companies Sign Agreement with Mongolian Firms

The Gyeongnam delegation, currently on a business trip to Central Asia, has begun efforts to expand official exchanges with Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia.

On September 19, the delegation led by Governor Park Wansu met with Mayor Khishgeegiin Nyambaatar at Ulaanbaatar City Hall to discuss ways to cooperate in various fields, including industry, tourism, and urban infrastructure.

In particular, regarding Gyeongnam's smart elevator industry, the Geochang Elevator Valley Business Council and Mongolian companies signed an agreement on the export and import of smart elevators.

Through the agreement, Gyeongnam and Mongolia have decided to join forces in concrete areas such as expanding exports of parts and finished products, technology cooperation and exchange, responding to local demand, and workforce development.

Gyeongnam Province expects that this agreement will accelerate local companies' entry into the Central Asian market.

Governor Park stated, "I hope that Ulaanbaatar, the center of Mongolia's economic development, and Gyeongnam, the industrial hub of Korea, will jointly host an economic forum next year to further expand economic cooperation," and invited participants to the MAMF Festival to be held in the province next month.

He added, "I hope that visits to Gyeongnam's manufacturing sites, including elevator companies, Korea Aerospace Industries, and Hyundai Rotem, will lead to expanded industrial exchanges."

Mayor Nyambaatar expressed his welcome by saying, "I hope this meeting will serve as a new starting point for friendly cooperation between the two regions."

That afternoon, the delegation visited the Mongolian government complex and met with Bat-amgalan Enkhtaivan, Minister of Urban Development, Construction, and Housing.

At this meeting, Gyeongnam Province discussed urban policy issues such as new city development, alleviating urban overcrowding, and improving residential environments, which are currently being promoted by the Mongolian government.

They also exchanged views on how Gyeongnam's smart elevator technology could make a practical contribution in these areas.

Governor Park said, "I hope that Gyeongnam, the most advanced manufacturing region in Korea, can collaborate on housing construction and urban development projects in Mongolia, and I ask for your interest in this matter."

Minister Enkhtaivan stated, "Mongolia is prioritizing the modernization of urban infrastructure and the creation of safe residential environments, and I expect that Gyeongnam's technological capabilities and experience will be of great help."

This visit to Mongolia by Gyeongnam Province marks the first official exchange commemorating the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Mongolia.

The province plans to use this visit as an opportunity to begin practical cooperation with Mongolia in earnest, actively pursue entry into the Central Asian elevator market, and strengthen the global competitiveness of local companies.
