Gwangmyeong City in Gyeonggi Province will host the "2025 Gwangmyeong Book Festival" at the lawn plaza of the Gwangmyeong Civic Gymnasium on September 27.
This year's festival, held under the theme "Finding Treasures While Reading Together!", will be a citizen-participatory event featuring a variety of programs such as music, performances, exhibitions, hands-on activities, and events.
The opening stage will showcase a musical journey by the Brass Ensemble, a magic circus performance, and a "Daebuk (BOOK)" percussion performance.
During the festival, author Jung Dayeon, whose book "It Gets Lighter When Dried in the Sun" was selected by the city as the "Book of the Year" in the youth category, will hold a book concert in collaboration with the band Seoyul Band. In addition, young artists Eoioff and Baek Young will each present a busking performance and a lyrical stage.
The event will also feature programs for children, including a "Reading OX Quiz" and the children's musical "Me! Me! Me!".
Events for citizens to enjoy have also been enhanced. On-site, a "Maze Book Curation" will be held, where citizens can solve quizzes and search for clues within books. Around 40 booths for hands-on activities, promotions, and sales will be set up at the lawn plaza.
The city will provide a book playground equipped with bean bags and parasols for reading and relaxation, and will also offer traditional games such as rolling a hoop, archery, and foam bowling.
Park Seungwon, Mayor of Gwangmyeong, said, "I hope this book festival brings the joy of discovering treasures within books to all citizens and becomes a time for intergenerational connection."
