Jo Wooyoung has laid the groundwork for his third career victory on the Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Tour.

On September 18, at Golfzon County Sunsan in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province (par 71, 7,100 yards), he shot a 5-under-par 66 in the first round of the Golfzon Open, which has a total prize fund of 1 billion won, taking the lead on the leaderboard. Lee Hyungjoon, Kang Yunseok, Park Youngkyu, Kim Jonghak, and Jeon Garam also joined this group. Jo Wooyoung carded five birdies without a single bogey. He previously secured one win each in 2023 and 2024.

Jo Wooyoung said, "I didn't keep the fairways well on the front nine, but my putting was good, so I was able to shoot five under," expressing his delight. He added, "My goal for the rest of the season is to finish in the top 10 in the Genesis Points standings," and revealed, "I plan to compete in the first stage of the PGA Tour Qualifying (Q) School and defend my title at The Charity Classic in October."
