A university student in his twenties died after jumping from the fourth floor of a shopping mall in Thailand, following his arrest for illegally filming a woman. It was reported that the man told his mother over the phone that he had committed the crime after being threatened.

According to the Bangkok Post on the 13th (local time), the incident occurred at around 7:40 p.m. on Friday, the 12th, at Central Westgate in the Bang Yai district of Nonthaburi Province. A young woman on the fourth floor witnessed a man using an iPad to film under her skirt and immediately called for help. Police and mall security guards apprehended the 21-year-old university student at the scene.

After being arrested, the man appeared distraught and attempted to flee. While on the fourth floor, he threw his bag down to a lower level and jumped, suffering a skull injury and a fractured ankle. He was transported to the hospital but died.

His mother stated that just before the fall, her son called to say goodbye and confessed to secretly filming under female students’ skirts. He reportedly told her that after joining a private online group (such as a Telegram chat room), he was coerced into committing the crime and received threats and demands to provide more photos.
