On the 18th, Mayor Yook Donghan of Chuncheon signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Atish Tapa, executive director of Coupang, in the city hall reception room to open the "Chuncheon Theme Hall." The agreement includes the launch of a Chuncheon-exclusive tourism showcase, called the "Chuncheon Theme Hall," on the Coupang app and website, as well as the promotion of major tourist attractions, accommodations, and various other content.
The "Chuncheon Theme Hall" is part of Coupang's nationwide regional tourism revitalization project and will feature about 200 types of autumn travel products, including hotels and resorts, pensions and glamping, and tickets and packages. The event will run from September 22 until October 31.
During the project period, online promotions will be conducted through Coupang's main page, app banners, and social media, while offline promotions will take place at tourist information centers, major attractions, and bus stop BIS (Bus Information Systems). Customers who purchase Chuncheon tourism products during the event will be entered into a prize draw to win local tourism products, further encouraging tourism spending.
Previously, in May, the city signed a regional tourism activation project agreement based on tourist data with leading domestic travel and leisure platform company Nol Universe and Yanolja Research. With the addition of this partnership with Coupang, Chuncheon is building a continuous collaborative system that spans the private sector, academia, and platforms, expanding the foundation for the city's tourism industry to take a leap forward.
The city expects that this collaboration will actively utilize Coupang's nationwide distribution network and digital marketing capabilities, resulting in increased individual tourist visits and an enhanced image as a tourism city.
Mayor Yook Donghan stated, "Through this agreement with Coupang, I hope more people will experience Chuncheon's vibrant autumn as a trending city," adding, "We will continue to pursue diverse private-sector partnerships to ensure the sustainable growth of the local tourism industry."
Atish Tapa, executive director of Coupang, commented, "The Chuncheon Theme Hall is an extension of Coupang's win-win project designed to grow together with the region," and added, "We will strive to provide tangible benefits to the local economy as well."
