The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants announced on the 18th that it held a launch ceremony for the "Regional Transparency Committee" on the 17th to enhance accounting transparency in local communities.

The ceremony took place at the Koreana Hotel in Seoul under the theme "Building Transparent Communities Together, Sharing a Future of Trust." The event was attended by Seoul Metropolitan Council members So Youngcheol, Heo Hoon, and Jeong Jiwoong, as well as committee chairs and certified public accountants from various regions across the country, who received their letters of appointment.


In his inaugural address, Choi Unyeol, president of the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants, stated, "The launch of the Regional Transparency Committee is not simply the creation of a new organization, but a historic first step that embodies the determination of certified public accountants to enhance accounting transparency and contribute their expertise for the public good. This will be a new leap toward a more transparent society and a brighter future."


Seoul Mayor Oh Sehoon, in his congratulatory remarks, said, "I have high expectations for the social role of the committee, which is taking its first step today. The committee’s slogan, 'Building Transparent Communities Together, Sharing a Future of Trust,' aligns with the values pursued by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. We will also share this vision and work together to bring about changes that citizens can truly feel."


The Regional Transparency Committee plans to carry out various activities, including free accounting and tax consultations for local small business owners and nonprofit organizations, social contribution initiatives such as youth accounting education, strengthened cooperation with local councils and governments, and transparent accounting campaigns. The committee comprises 858 certified public accountants from 50 regions nationwide.


The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants stated, "With the launch of the Regional Transparency Committee, we aim to become a trusted partner in local communities and contribute to the healthy development of local governments by improving accounting transparency."
