Communicating and Sharing Policies with Residents
On-Site Visits Continue Through November
Seongbuk-gu District in Seoul (Mayor Lee Seungro) announced on the 18th that, starting from September 16, it has launched the 'One-Day On-Site District Mayor's Office' for the second half of 2025. The program will visit a total of 20 neighborhoods in rotation through November 11 this year, engaging with residents to discuss local issues.
Seongbuk-gu District in Seoul has started operating the "One-Day On-Site District Mayor's Office" in the second half of 2025, beginning with Anam-dong. On the 16th, Lee Seungro, the mayor of Seongbuk-gu, explained residents' proposals at the Anam-dong On-Site District Mayor's Office. Provided by Seongbuk-gu.
The On-Site District Mayor's Office is Seongbuk-gu's flagship communication initiative, reflecting Mayor Lee Seungro's administrative philosophy that "the answers lie where the residents are, and the residents are in the field." Instead of requiring residents to visit the district office, the mayor personally visits each neighborhood to listen to residents' opinions and seek solutions. This approach has been in place since 2018.
Now in its ninth year, the On-Site District Mayor's Office features the mayor directly presenting previously submitted resident proposals and their resolutions in a PowerPoint format, sharing both the progress and any unresolved issues. This year's format was developed through an employee idea contest, aiming to effectively convey voices from the field and enhance resident participation.
To further strengthen resident engagement, some sessions now allow residents to join the mayor on stage to explain and discuss their proposals. A new live broadcasting system has also been introduced, enabling a reporter to connect with the site and provide real-time background on the proposals to improve understanding.
In addition, practical administrative services are offered on-site, including metabolic syndrome screenings, consultations with local administrative advisors, and counseling for architectural, sanitation, and cadastral civil complaints. The district has also revamped its policy promotion methods by introducing the "1-on-300 Policy Quiz with the Mayor" program, making it more enjoyable for residents to learn about various policies.
Mayor Lee Seungro stated, "Listening to the diverse opinions of residents and reflecting them in policy is the most important thing. I find it especially meaningful to share the achievements of the On-Site District Mayor's Office with residents and to stand on stage together to discuss real issues." He added, "Going forward, I will continue to communicate more closely with residents through the 'One-Day On-Site District Mayor's Office' and drive meaningful changes."
This session of the On-Site District Mayor's Office will be broadcast live on the official Seongbuk-gu YouTube channel, 'Seongbuk TV,' allowing interested residents to watch in real time and participate by sharing their opinions in the open chat room.
