Gwangmyeong City Implements Organizational Restructuring... Establishes Investment Promotion and Job & Economy Divisions

Smart City Division Reorganized as AI Smart City Division
New Integrated Care Team and Medical Care Support Team Established for Unified Care System

Gwangmyeong City in Gyeonggi Province is significantly strengthening its economic sector organizations, focusing on attracting investment and expanding job opportunities.

Gwangmyeong City Implements Organizational Restructuring... Establishes Investment Promotion and Job & Economy Divisions

On September 18, Gwangmyeong City announced that its organizational restructuring plan, which includes the establishment of a new Investment Promotion Division, the reorganization of the AI Smart City Division, the creation of a new Job & Economy Division, adjustments to the Safety, Construction, and Transportation Bureau, and the establishment of Integrated Care and Medical Care Support Teams, was approved at the city council's plenary session on September 17.

The city explained that this organizational restructuring aims to systematically prepare for projects such as the Gwangmyeong Siheung Technovalley and the Gwangmyeong Siheung New Town development, while also aligning more closely with the new government's policy direction and accelerating the implementation of projects that citizens can directly experience.

The newly established Investment Promotion Division will be responsible for securing strategic private sector investment and building a foundation for investment, focusing on major development hubs such as the Gwangmyeong Siheung Technovalley. By creating a business-friendly environment through customized corporate attraction, support for resident companies, and resolving business challenges, the division aims to revitalize the local economy and create quality jobs.

The role of departments related to artificial intelligence (AI) has also been strengthened. The former Smart City Division has been reorganized into the AI Smart City Division, with plans to enhance future urban competitiveness through the construction of AI-based smart cities and innovation in data-driven administration.

A new Job & Economy Division will also be established, integrating responsibilities for job creation, small business, and traditional markets into a single department. By supporting jobs and the local economy as a unified system, the city aims to accelerate the implementation of economic policies that citizens can truly feel.

As public demand for enhanced safety has grown, the rank of the Safety, Construction, and Transportation Bureau has been elevated to second, following the Planning and Coordination Office.

Additionally, an Integrated Care Team and a Medical Care Support Team will be newly established to build a Gwangmyeong-style integrated care system. The creation of a Personnel Management Team and the transfer of the Welfare Investigation Team are also part of the restructuring to improve organizational efficiency.

With this restructuring, Gwangmyeong City's organization will expand from one office, six bureaus, and 253 teams to one office, six bureaus, and 256 teams.

The city plans to implement personnel appointments reflecting these changes next month, following revisions to related ordinances, enforcement rules, and autonomous regulations.

Park Seungwon, Mayor of Gwangmyeong, stated, "This organizational restructuring is not simply an administrative adjustment, but a solid foundation to prepare for the next 100 years. We will enhance the city's competitiveness through investment and innovation, and strive to create a sustainable city where citizens can live safely and happily."
