The "Donghae Mukho District Specialized Tourism Development Project," represented by the Dojjaebigol Sky Valley and Haerang Observatory, was awarded the Grand Prize in the Tourism Development category at the 3rd Korea Tourism Policy Awards 2025.
The Korea Tourism Policy Awards are held annually for local governments across the country to discover outstanding tourism policies, share innovative designs and implementation strategies for local tourism, and recognize the achievements of local governments that have contributed to revitalizing regional tourism.
Donghae City's "Donghae Mukho District Specialized Tourism Development Project" transformed the area into an emotional, specialized tourist destination by lifting disaster risk zones through slope stabilization work and focusing on unique experiential facilities such as Dojjaebigol Sky Valley and Haerang Observatory. In particular, the project was highly praised for promoting stay-type tourism and revitalizing the local economy by connecting with existing tourist attractions such as Mukho Lighthouse and Nongoldam-gil.
Lee Jinhwa, head of the Tourism Division, stated, "Winning the Grand Prize in the Tourism Development category with the Donghae Mukho District Specialized Tourism Development Project is very meaningful. We will continue to enhance the unique sensibility of Mukho and further develop it as a leading tourist destination in Donghae City," expressing future aspirations.
