On September 18, Compassion announced that a fan of Lee Junyoung, who requested to remain anonymous, donated 3 million won to celebrate the release of Lee's new mini-album "Last Dance."
Lee Junyoung debuted as a member of the group U-KISS and has been actively pursuing his music career. Recently, he showcased his nuanced acting skills as the character Youngbeom in the Netflix original series "When Life Gives You Tangerines." On September 22, he is set to make his comeback as a singer with the new album "Last Dance," his first in five years.
The donation will be used, according to the donor's wishes, to support medical and nutritional aid for children suffering from illnesses. Specifically, it will go toward a kidney transplant support project for Benedicta, an 18-year-old living in Ghana. Compassion Korea plans to cover the costs needed for pre-surgery examinations, surgery, medication, and recovery support, so that Benedicta, who has been undergoing long-term treatment for end-stage renal failure, can regain her health and return to her daily life.
The anonymous donor stated, "Through supporting the artist, I realized the joy of expressing love and wanted to spread this positive influence further. I hope this donation will serve as a small seed of hope for children suffering from illnesses around the world, helping them grow and pursue their dreams."
A representative from Compassion Korea said, "We are deeply grateful that you have put your heartfelt support for Lee Junyoung into meaningful sharing. We will do our utmost to ensure that this donation leads to impactful support, and we will work together so that the warm hearts of the fans can contribute to a healthy culture of giving."
