The Life Insurance Social Contribution Foundation announced on September 18 that it held a pop-up event for the "Be:live U Connection Campaign" at Cheonggye Plaza in Jung-gu, Seoul, where citizens shared messages of support for suicide prevention.
The "Be:live U Connection Campaign" is a public participation campaign commemorating the foundation's launch of the urban "SOS Lifeline." The event featured an SOS Lifeline booth experience, a "Heart Post Office" where people could send handwritten letters, and an introduction booth for the foundation's suicide prevention programs. At the "Connection Talk Concert" led by Jang Dongseon, head of Curious Brain Research Institute, an in-depth lecture was given on the topic "Happiness Lies Between People," exploring relationships and happiness.
The Life Insurance Foundation has operated the SOS Lifeline for 14 years, providing 10,042 counseling sessions and rescuing 2,265 individuals in imminent suicide crises. The foundation also launched "Madeleine," a suicide prevention counseling service via social networking services, which has conducted 7,921 counseling sessions. In addition, it operates youth suicide prevention platforms such as "Healing Toktok," "Emotion Store," and "Will Listen Dog."
Lee Jangwoo, Chairman of the Life Insurance Foundation, said, "Thanks to the participation of many citizens this year, we were able to convey a message of respect for life. We will continue to work to ensure that the urban SOS Lifeline serves as a pillar of support for those in need and helps foster a spirit of solidarity in which citizens encourage and support each other."
If you are struggling with depression or other difficult issues, or if you have a family member or acquaintance facing such challenges, you can receive 24-hour professional counseling through the suicide prevention hotline at ☎109 or via the suicide prevention SNS counseling service "Madeleine."
