Golfzon China Open Gains Widespread Media Coverage in China
Total Prize Pool of 1.9 Billion Won, Winner’s Prize of 570 Million Won
Urban Golf Course Platform Leads the Global Popularization of Golf
This is a perfect meeting of the screen and the field. City Golf, introduced by Golfzon, a global total golf platform company, is at the center of it. Recently, the Golfzon China Open, with a total prize fund of 1.9 billion KRW, was successfully concluded, drawing the attention of golfers worldwide.
The Golfzon China Open was held over four days starting August 28 at the Golfzon City Golf China Yanji Branch, the second location in China. Within just one year of launching the City Golf business, Golfzon secured a new City Golf hub and doubled the prize fund, demonstrating the potential for expansion of the Golfzon Tour held at City Golf venues.
The Yanji Branch was planned and designed as a dedicated City Golf venue from the site selection stage. It has been completed as a comprehensive golf cultural space covering 25,000 square meters (about 7,500 pyeong), including auxiliary facilities. Golfzon’s dedicated City Golf simulator and operational know-how accumulated at the Tianjin Branch were applied. The venue offers a thrilling round environment with an open view and an island green.
The Golfzon China Open doubled its prize fund compared to last year. The total prize money was 10 million yuan (about 1.9 billion KRW), with the winner’s prize set at 3 million yuan (about 570 million KRW). A total of 120 players, including those selected from across China and invited players, participated. Zhao Zixu of China won the championship.
Interest within China was also intense. Major local media outlets, including state broadcaster CCTV, Xinhua News Agency, and People’s Daily, gave extensive coverage to the opening of Golfzon City Golf China Yanji Branch and the Golfzon China Open. In addition, the cumulative number of viewers for the live stream of the tournament on local video platforms such as WeChat Golfzon China and Sina Golf surpassed 165,000.
Golfzon plans to expand City Golf to Korea and other regions in the future. By introducing a preliminary round system using Golfzon simulators worldwide, the company aims to develop the Golfzon Tour into a stage where global golf players can participate.
