This educational program took place over two days, from September 11 to 12, at the Chaseong Art Hall in Gijang County Office, with participation from over 1,000 local preschool children.
The performance was designed by adapting the familiar story of Pinocchio so that children could learn proper handwashing habits in an enjoyable way. On stage, the importance of handwashing and the six-step handwashing method were conveyed through songs and dance, allowing children to naturally experience and internalize these practices.
Choi Byungmoo, Director of Gijang County Public Health Center, emphasized, "Proper handwashing for more than 30 seconds with soap under running water can prevent respiratory diseases, as well as waterborne and foodborne infectious diseases. Handwashing is such a simple yet effective preventive measure that it is often called a 'self-vaccine.'"
Governor Jung Jongbok stated, "We will continue to strengthen education tailored to children's perspectives so that they can develop proper hygiene habits and grow up healthy."
