Supporting Injury Prevention and Recovery for Participants
Providing Hands-On Field Training Opportunities for Students
The Department of Physical Therapy at Dong-Eui University of Science (President Kim Youngdo, Department Chair Kwon Yujeong) announced on September 17 that it participated in the Salomon Trail Running Competition held in Wonju on September 12 and 13, volunteering at the Physio booth.
Two professors from the Department of Physical Therapy, six current students, and one graduate of the Meister program took part in this volunteer activity, providing on-site support.
The Salomon Trail Running Competition is a representative running event held on mountainous terrain, where participants are prone to musculoskeletal fatigue and injuries to areas such as the ankles, knees, and lower back due to the nature of the course. In response, the Dong-Eui University of Science volunteer team provided professional conditioning services, including massage, muscle relaxation, stretching, and taping, offering practical support for athletes’ recovery and performance maintenance.
The participating students gained a sense of accomplishment by directly applying the specialized knowledge they learned in the classroom to the field, and they also received high satisfaction and positive feedback from the participants. In particular, the joint participation of professors, students, and graduates created an environment for intergenerational learning and sharing.
Kwon Yujeong, Chair of the Department of Physical Therapy, stated, "This volunteer activity was not just simple volunteering, but an opportunity for field training that strengthened our students’ capabilities. We will continue to promote the expertise of our department and give back to the community through various programs in collaboration with the local community."
