This project, with a total investment of 5.4 billion won, involved improving a 1.02-kilometer section of the small stream and reconstructing four small bridges to prevent flood damage and improve the river environment.

The city began the detailed design for river maintenance in May 2021, completed the necessary administrative procedures, started construction in September 2023, and finished the project in just over two years.

The city explained that the maintenance project not only enhanced the area's ability to respond to natural disasters but also transformed the Sangokcheon area into a waterfront space where residents can enjoy a safer and more pleasant environment.

Kim Kyunghee, Mayor of Icheon, said, "I am pleased that this maintenance project has enabled residents to enjoy a safer and more comfortable living environment," adding, "We will continue our efforts to create a living environment where nature and people coexist in harmony."
