Goseong County in South Gyeongsang Province held a kickoff meeting in the county government’s main conference room to launch the service for designating the station area development project zone and establishing a development plan.

The meeting, held on September 16, was organized as a preliminary procedure for the designation of an investment-leading district, following Goseong County’s selection in August for the hub development-type investment-leading district competition hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

The investment-leading district project is based on the “Act on Regional Development and Support” and aims to foster and support strategic projects in regions with growth potential, thereby promoting private investment and establishing regional growth hubs.

Through this service, the county plans to establish a practical development plan that incorporates differentiated concepts and demand forecasts, such as a sportscation, a youth startup support center, and a one-stop terminal. The goal is to secure future growth engines for Goseong County and attract private investment.

The county aims to complete the planning for the investment-leading district designation application by 2026, finalize implementation plans by 2027, and fully launch the project from 2029. In addition, the county will hold briefing sessions to communicate with local residents and ensure their opinions are fully reflected.

The KTX Goseong Station Area Development Project aims to develop a 220,000-square-meter site in connection with the Southern Inland Railway, scheduled for completion in 2030. By 2032, the project will establish a one-stop terminal, the KTX Goseong Station building, a sportscation facility, and a youth startup support center.

County Governor Lee Sanggeun emphasized, “The KTX Goseong Station Area Development Project is a core initiative for Goseong County to overcome the crisis of regional extinction and revitalize the stagnant local economy. Starting with this kickoff meeting, we will thoroughly implement the project from the planning stage to lay the foundation for leading the county’s future.”
