Mutual Cooperation for Self-Sufficiency in Equipment Design and Manufacturing Technologies
Doosan Enerbility announced on the 17th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea South-East Power (KOEN) for the localization of pumped storage power generation equipment. The signing ceremony, held the previous day at Bundang Doosan Tower in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, was attended by Kim Jundong, President of Korea South-East Power, Jung Yeonin, Vice Chairman of Doosan Enerbility, Son Seungwoo, Head of Power Service BG, and other key officials from both companies.

Through this agreement, the two companies have decided to cooperate in order to achieve self-sufficiency in the design and manufacturing technologies of core equipment for pumped storage power generation. Doosan Enerbility will accelerate the acquisition of original design and manufacturing technologies for the equipment by collaborating with leading overseas companies. Korea South-East Power will provide an environment for demonstrating localized products and will actively support the development of new markets.
According to the government's 11th Basic Plan for Long-term Electricity Supply and Demand, pumped storage power plants with a total installed capacity of 5.7 gigawatts (GW) are scheduled to be built in Korea by 2037. Doosan Enerbility plans to increase the practical localization rate by utilizing domestically produced equipment in future pumped storage projects with Korea South-East Power, thereby strengthening the domestic industrial ecosystem.
Vice Chairman Jung Yeonin stated, "With the recent increase in pumped storage construction, the need for self-sufficiency in the design and manufacturing of main equipment is also growing. Through collaboration with Korea South-East Power, which has provided a demonstration environment, we will accelerate the localization of pumped storage power generation equipment."
