Kakao Healthcare Signs Strategic Partnership with Canada’s Providence Healthcare Ventures

The two companies signed the agreement on September 15 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, during the 2025 Global Privacy Assembly (GPA). The event was attended by Shin Sooyong, Executive Director at Kakao Healthcare, and Kim Soyeon, Director at Providence Healthcare Ventures.

Through this partnership, the companies will jointly research and develop an integrated solution that combines Kakao Healthcare’s healthcare data search portal “Haycorn” and its clinical research solution with Providence Healthcare Ventures’ metadata management solution, the Integrated Health Informatics Datalab (IHID).

The integrated solution to be developed will apply an “eyes-off” data strategy, utilizing Kakao Healthcare’s enhanced privacy protection technology to enable distributed model training without sharing sensitive information. Additionally, the data will be linked using protocols that adhere to global standards and interoperability criteria to enhance connectivity.

Based on this competitive integrated solution, both companies plan to contribute to global expansion and the advancement of the healthcare ecosystems in both countries. The solution is expected to become a mutually beneficial model that provides high-quality healthcare data services to global companies and venture firms in the life sciences and pharmaceutical bio sectors in both countries. Furthermore, it is anticipated to serve as a bridgehead for Kakao Healthcare to enter the North American market, including Canada, and to expand its global partnerships.

Kim Soyeon, Director at Providence Healthcare Ventures, stated, “We are pleased to collaborate with Kakao Healthcare, a leading digital healthcare company. Through this partnership, we aim to advance Providence Healthcare Ventures’ platform strategy and establish ourselves as a more trusted global partner in the field of healthcare AI.”

Shin Sooyong, Executive Director at Kakao Healthcare, said, “Through this collaboration, we plan to further advance Kakao Healthcare’s healthcare data analytics solutions and accelerate our entry into global markets, including North America.”
