On autumn nights in Seongnam, the entire forest transforms into a giant movie theater. Vibrant visuals projected onto the trees and carried by the wind paint a vision of the future, while an orchestra and a choir of over 1,000 citizens come together to offer an unforgettable experience, making attendees feel as if they are the protagonists in a fairy tale.
The '2025 Seongnam Festival,' hosted by Seongnam City (Mayor Shin Sangjin) and organized by the Seongnam Cultural Foundation, will be held over ten days from September 19 to 28. This year's slogan, 'TAG Seongnam,' represents the convergence of Technology, Arts, and Games, highlighting Seongnam's identity and future vision through integrated content.
The festival's signature program, 'Cine Forest: Fairy Tale,' will be directed by Professor Lee Jinjoon of KAIST and take place at the Bundang Central Park outdoor stage. This media symphony performance will turn the entire park into an open-air theater using projection mapping. It will be held three times, once each evening at 7:30 p.m. from September 19 to 21, inviting citizens to immerse themselves in the experience.
The festival will start at Bundang Central Park and extend throughout Seongnam, including Pangyo, the Bundang District Office lawn plaza, and Himangdae Neighborhood Park. On September 19 and 20, the Seongnam Game Culture Festival 'GXG 2025' will take place at Pangyo Station Plaza under the theme 'Enjoying Games as Culture!' The event will feature a celebratory performance by singer Ailee, the finals of a game music competition, booths hosted by international game companies, comic and animation events, and a youth flea market, turning the Pangyo area into a hub for games and culture.
'Seongnam Festival × NEXON,' a collaboration with Seongnam-based game company Nexon, will be held on September 20, 21, 27, and 28 at the Bundang District Office lawn plaza and Himangdae Neighborhood Park. Experience programs based on popular games such as MapleStory and KartRider Rush+ will create a family-friendly festival space for all generations.
The sky will also become a stage for the festival. The '2025 Seongnam Drone Light Show & Music Festival,' featuring beautiful music and a spectacular light performance by thousands of drones, will take place at 7 p.m. on September 21 and 28 at the Seongnam Sports Complex auxiliary stadium and Tancheon (in front of the Korea Design Center), respectively.
Following a classical performance with commentary by conductor Gum Nanse, 1,500 drones will illuminate the night sky on the 21st, and a record-setting 3,000 drones-the largest number ever deployed by a local government in Korea-will do so on the 28th. Special performances will utilize Nexon's KartRider Rush+ and MapleStory intellectual properties.
