'Traveling Autumn 2025' Proclamation Ceremony Held

"This year's 'Autumn for Travel' holds great significance as it has expanded into a nationwide campaign, with the participation of four government ministries and six major economic organizations. The government will mobilize all available resources to revitalize local areas and the livelihoods of citizens."

Kim Daehyun, the 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, emphasized at the proclamation ceremony for '2025 Autumn for Travel' held on September 16 at Hiker Ground in Jung-gu, Seoul, that the campaign would be promoted at a pan-governmental level.

Until November, the government, led by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization, will run a campaign encouraging autumn travel. The plan is to boost the autumn travel atmosphere and stimulate domestic demand through large-scale discounts on transportation, accommodation, and travel products, themed travel product exhibitions (Travel Trend Hall), the discovery of hidden tourist spots, and events featuring the popular character 'Jjangman Loopy'.

The launch ceremony was attended by four ministries-the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries-as well as six major economic organizations: the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Korea Employers Federation, the Federation of Korean Industries, the Korea International Trade Association, the Korea Federation of SMEs, and the Korea Federation of Middle Market Enterprises, making the event a great success.

Autumn is traditionally the peak season for the travel industry. This year, in particular, travel demand is expected to increase significantly compared to previous years due to the long Chuseok holiday.

Vice Minister Kim stated, "Tourism is a key tool to increase the resident population in local areas and revitalize the regional economy, thereby preventing the disappearance of local communities." He added, "We will provide practical benefits such as discounts on transportation, accommodation, and travel products, airfare discounts for local airports, and bus discounts for areas with declining populations."

Large-scale Discounts on Transportation, Accommodation, and Travel Products

Specific benefits include a 50% discount on tourist trains, a 10,000 won discount on the 'Tomorrow Pass', a 20,000 won discount on local airline routes, a 30% discount on express and intercity buses to areas with declining populations, and Onnuri gift certificates (up to 20,000 won) for eco-friendly drivers. In the accommodation sector, there will be 'Accommodation Sale Festa' discount coupons (20,000 to 50,000 won), discounts for certified quality accommodations (20,000 to 30,000 won), and a 10,000 won discount on campsites. For travel products, there will be a special exhibition for tourism ventures and tour passes (up to 30% off) and an average 45% discount on six themed programs.

Additionally, popular regional programs from last year will continue, such as one-day train trips (30,000 won per person, 1,000 participants), influencer-accompanied trips, and the 'Mystery Tour' (100 participants), where the course is not revealed in advance. New tourist attractions will also be introduced, including 'Janggeumi Park' in Jeongeup (opening mid-September), the National Jinan Plateau Forest Healing Center (opening in October), and the newly renovated Mulmi Coastal Observatory in Namhae. Furthermore, 27 hidden gems will be newly featured, such as Hwagae Garden on Gyodongdo in Ganghwa and Forest of Jinju on Wolasan Mountain in Jinju.

Various projects will also be promoted by each ministry. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety will promote 51 'Youth Villages' and experiential events, and will select and introduce islands suitable for autumn travel among the 88 'Islands to Visit'. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs will designate the second week of each month as 'Rural Tourism Week', operating rural tour passes and small-scale experience programs, and offering discounts on accommodation and experience products. The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries will hold the 'Fishing Village Stamp Tour' at 18 fishing village experience resorts nationwide to boost regional tourism and the economy.

The Federation of Korean Industries is promoting the 'Grab 8 Seconds, Travel to 8 Provinces!' event and a domestic travel support project for transportation-vulnerable groups. In addition, in collaboration with Nexon Korea's 'Mabinogi Mobile', a promotional video for Autumn for Travel will be produced and distributed.

This year, singer Chuu, who is loved by many for her bright energy, was selected as the campaign ambassador. She said, "Korea is a beautiful country where tradition and modernity coexist, filled with living cultural heritage. As the ambassador, I will do my best so that more people can travel throughout Korea during the golden holiday."

Vice Minister Kim concluded, "Through this campaign, I hope that the steps of the people this autumn will lead to a new leap forward for local communities."
