Incheon Airport Welcomes New SAS Airlines Service, Strengthening Northern Europe Network

Copenhagen Route to Operate Four Times a Week

Incheon International Airport Corporation announced on September 16 that Scandinavian Airlines (hereinafter referred to as SAS Airlines), the flagship carrier of the three Scandinavian countries (Denmark, Sweden, and Norway), launched a new Incheon-Copenhagen route starting from September 13.

On September 13, a launch event for SAS Airlines’ new route was held at the departure hall of Incheon Airport’s Terminal 2, and on September 15, a luncheon was held in Seoul to commemorate the new service.

The Copenhagen route operated by SAS Airlines will use the A350 aircraft with a capacity of 300 seats, and is scheduled to operate four times a week departing from Incheon Airport. With this launch, flights between Incheon and Northern Europe have expanded from the previous seven weekly flights operated solely by Finnair to a total of 11 weekly flights by two airlines (10 weekly flights during the winter season).

Since 2012, the corporation has been engaging with SAS Airlines, consistently emphasizing the need for this new service. Based on the growing demand for cultural exchange and tourism between Korea and Northern Europe, the corporation has proposed joint marketing initiatives and incentives for launching new routes.

After 13 years of effort, both parties confirmed their commitment to mutual cooperation, culminating in the establishment of the direct Incheon-Copenhagen route this year.

SAS Airlines is a national carrier jointly owned by Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. Since its founding in 1946, it has served approximately 90 cities, building an extensive network that connects Northern Europe with destinations worldwide. Following its joining of SkyTeam in 2024, SAS Airlines will be stationed at Incheon Airport Terminal 2 alongside other member airlines this year.

Lee Hakjae, CEO of Incheon International Airport Corporation, stated, "With the launch of SAS Airlines’ new service, Incheon Airport’s European network has been further strengthened. We will continue to expand new routes in partnership with various global airlines and solidify our position as the leading hub airport in Northeast Asia."
