"Battle of the Year World Final" to Be Held at Hwaseong Sports Complex on September 20-21

First-Ever Event in Korea
Over 1,000 Participants from 33 Countries

The world's largest international breaking dance competition, the "2025 Battle of the Year World Final," will be held at the Hwaseong Sports Complex Indoor Gymnasium in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, from September 20 to 21, 2025.

At the Battle of the Year World Final media day event held at Hwaseong Sports Complex on the 16th, Executive Chairman Kim Heonjun explained the plans for the tournament. Provided by Hwaseong City

Known as the "Breaking World Cup," this tournament is one of the world's five major breaking events and the longest-running competition of its kind. Over 1,000 athletes from 33 countries will participate. This is the first time the World Final of this event is being held in South Korea.

Hwaseong City and the Korea Breaking Federation held a media day on September 16 at the conference room of Hwaseong Sports Complex. The event featured dynamic demonstrations of fundamental breaking moves by artists, as well as an introduction to the tournament and an overview of event plans by Executive Chairman Kim Heonjun.

On the first day of the competition, September 20, there will be three categories: 1-on-1 battles, 2-on-2 battles, and kids battles. On the following day, September 21, the main events-the crew performance and crew battle categories-will take place.

The crew categories will feature teams that have advanced through national preliminaries, with each winning team receiving a prize of 30 million won. Olympic medal-winning teams, including "Phil Wizard," the gold medalist at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and Kyoka from Osaka Ojo Gang, the winner of Street World Fighter, will participate as battle guests.

The event will also include celebratory performances by hip-hop musicians such as Kid Milli and BewhY.

Cho Seunghyun, spokesperson for Hwaseong City, stated, "Hosting this tournament in Hwaseong, a city renowned for its traditional culture and arts, holds special significance as it brings together tradition and modernity, East and West." He added, "We hope for enthusiastic interest and participation from citizens in the dynamic performances of Hallyu stars who have been at the forefront of spreading Korean culture worldwide."
