Nowon District in Seoul (Mayor Oh Seungrok) will host the 'Goheung Direct Transaction Market' and the 'Jeonnam Direct Transaction Market' in succession around Junggye Neighborhood Park and Deungnamu Neighborhood Park ahead of the Chuseok holiday.

Nowon District to Host Goheung and Jeonnam Direct Transaction Markets for Chuseok Last year, Oh Seungrok, the mayor of Nowon District, and residents visited the Goheung direct transaction market. Provided by Nowon District Office.

Every year, the district organizes direct transaction markets to provide residents with fresh, high-quality agricultural, livestock, and marine products, while offering farmers a stable sales channel and opportunities to increase their income. This year, the event has been significantly expanded, evolving into a venue for urban-rural exchange and cultural communication.

The 'Goheung Direct Transaction Market' will be held at Junggye Neighborhood Park for three days, from September 19 to 21. It will operate from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the final day on the 21st closing at 12 p.m. Over 100 items will be available for purchase at the market, including Goheung Korean beef, dried seafood, rice, citron, seaweed, and salted seafood products.

From September 26 to 28, the 'Jeonnam Direct Transaction Market' will follow. It will operate from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Junggye Neighborhood Park and Deungnamu Neighborhood Park, closing at 4 p.m. on the final day. This Jeonnam market will feature participation from 21 cities and counties and 60 companies from Jeonnam Province, selling agricultural, livestock, and marine products at 90 booths. Over 100 items, including apples, pears, cabbage kimchi, melons, Korean beef, honey, dried seaweed, and dried yellow corvina, will be available at discounts of up to 30 percent. For purchases over 50,000 won, a quick delivery service within 5 kilometers will also be provided.

There will also be a variety of hands-on events. Customers who purchase more than 50,000 won can participate in a roulette event and the kimchi-making experience 'Kimchi Daejeon.' Traditional cultural play zones, on-site auction shows, and live peddler auctions will also be held, attracting families and visitors.

The cultural performances will be diverse as well. Singer Yeom Yuri and Kim Soyeon will perform in a trot music battle, while Nayoung and Jeong Seul will take the stage for an EDM trot performance, alongside busking shows. Chef Oh Sheddeuk will also host a cooking show. The performances will take place on the main stage at Junggye Neighborhood Park, and will be broadcast live to Deungnamu Neighborhood Park. In addition, there will be booths for consultation on returning to farming or rural life, and a promotional hall for master food artisans, making this a valuable venue for information exchange.

The opening ceremony for the Jeonnam Direct Transaction Market will be held at 3 p.m. on September 26 at Junggye Neighborhood Park. Trot singers Park Jihyun and Jo Jazz will perform celebratory music, and a street parade will further enhance the festive atmosphere.

Mayor Oh Seungrok of Nowon District stated, "This year's direct transaction markets have been prepared as a festival where everyone can enjoy not only shopping but also performances and hands-on experiences together," adding, "I hope you will prepare fresh food for Chuseok and spend joyful time with your family."
