JK Inspiration Announces Research Results to Establish Standards for Safe Sanitary Pads

The results of a sanitary pad safety evaluation, conducted through international joint research by JK Inspiration, which operates the domestic feminine care brand Audrey Sun, have been officially published in the Journal of Hazardous Materials (JHM), the most prestigious academic journal in the field of environmental risk assessment.

This study comprehensively verified key safety factors of feminine hygiene products, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs), microplastics, and cytotoxicity. An analysis of 29 products revealed the detection of harmful substances in many items; however, Audrey Sun's TCF (Double Core) sanitary pad demonstrated toxicity suppression in cytotoxicity evaluations and recorded the lowest levels of microplastics and VOCs detected.

In particular, cytotoxicity testing is a method typically applied to pharmaceuticals and medical devices, and is not mandatory for quasi-drugs such as sanitary pads. Nevertheless, Audrey Sun voluntarily adopted cell culture testing to scientifically verify product safety. In fact, previous cytotoxicity tests on 25 other brands' products showed that approximately 72% exhibited cytotoxicity. Therefore, the publication of this study in JHM is significant as it sets a new standard in the ongoing debate over the safety of feminine hygiene products.

A representative from JK Inspiration stated, "Research shows that the Y-zone in women is surrounded by mucous membranes, resulting in a toxin absorption rate more than 40 times higher than that of other skin," emphasizing that "verifying the safety of sanitary pads is not a matter of choice but an essential task to protect women's health rights."

Meanwhile, Audrey Sun has already been certified by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for containing 94% bio-based ingredients and has been designated as a Mandatory Federal Purchase Item in the United States. With the publication of this study in JHM, the brand has also gained recognition and trust in the international academic community.
