This year's festival will take place across Red Road sections R1 to R6, offering visitors a wide array of performances and hands-on programs for an enjoyable experience.
On September 20, starting at 3:30 p.m., a dynamic pre-opening performance by the West African performing arts group 'Ponike' will be held at the special stage in Red Road R6. The opening ceremony at 4:00 p.m. will feature a commemorative event and video presentation celebrating the third anniversary of Red Road, along with various performances. The second part will showcase the 'Hanbok Festa in Red Road,' highlighting the charm of traditional Korean attire, while the third part will feature a celebratory stage with Sing Korea guest artists and local residents, adding to the festival's excitement.
Throughout the festival, a variety of programs will also be held at different spots along Red Road. In the R1 section, 'Webtoon & Music Festa in Red Road' will combine webtoons and music to present cultural content with a youthful sensibility.
In the R2 section, which features a busking zone, visitors can enjoy a range of busking performances including vocal, dance, and magic acts, as well as browse a charming flea market offering unique items.
The R4 section will host cultural and artistic programs, allowing both domestic and international tourists to naturally experience the deep cultural and artistic appeal of Mapo. The 'Red Road Street Busking' area in R5 will fill the street with performances spanning genres such as band music and classical, while the 'Red Road Road Gallery' will offer unique exhibitions for added enjoyment. In addition, Red Road Makers, who have signed agreements with Mapo District, will present engaging hands-on programs such as fan painting and pottery coloring, captivating tourists with these creative experiences.
Finally, the R6 section will not only host the opening ceremony but also offer hanbok and traditional game experiences, allowing visitors to wear traditional Korean clothing and immerse themselves in the beauty of Korean culture.
The Red Road Festival is a celebration for everyone, from locals of all ages to international tourists, and is expected to serve as a platform to promote the charm of Korean culture and tourism beyond Mapo District.
Mayor Park Kangsu of Mapo District stated, "This festival, prepared to mark the third anniversary of the creation of Red Road, was designed so that all visitors can enjoy and experience the culture and arts of Mapo. I hope many people will visit Red Road this weekend and fully enjoy the festivities."
