Rising Container Ship Orders Amid Hopes for Global Shipping Recovery
Order from British Virgin Islands; Delivery Scheduled by 2028
90 Vessels Secured This Year, Achieving 67.7% of Annual Target
HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, the intermediate holding company for shipbuilding under HD Hyundai, has secured a new order for four container ships.

According to a public filing, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering signed a construction contract worth 651.9 billion won with a shipping company registered in the British Virgin Islands on September 15. The vessels will be built by HD Hyundai Samho and are scheduled to be delivered sequentially by the second half of 2028.
Including this latest contract, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has won a total of 90 vessel orders so far this year, amounting to 12.21 billion dollars (approximately 16.6 trillion won). This represents 67.7% of the company’s annual target of 18.05 billion dollars. The company expects to maintain a stable order flow in the second half of the year, driven by increased orders for container ships and rising demand for eco-friendly vessels.
