Second Round Begins on September 22
It has been confirmed that approximately 99% of the entire population applied for and received the first round of livelihood recovery consumption coupons.
According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on September 15, a total of 50,078,938 people applied for the first round of consumption coupons by the application deadline at 6 p.m. on September 12. This accounts for 98.96% of all eligible recipients.
The total amount of consumption coupons distributed to applicants was 9.0693 trillion won.
By issuance method, credit and debit cards accounted for the largest share with 34.64 million cases (69.2%), followed by local gift certificates with 9.3 million cases (18.6%), and prepaid cards with 6.15 million cases (12.3%).
Among the 17 provinces and metropolitan cities, Jeonnam had the highest distribution rate at 99.32%, while Seoul had the lowest at 98.45%.
As of September 7, 5.1356 trillion won (85.5%) out of the 6.006 trillion won distributed via credit and debit cards had been used.
Starting from September 22, a second round of consumption coupons worth 100,000 won per person will be distributed to 90% of the population, excluding the top 10% income bracket.
