The final round of the 2025 Hwacheon Sancheoneo National Park Golf Festival, renowned as the most prestigious event of its kind in Korea, is about to begin.

The Hwacheon County Sports Association will hold the tournament from September 16 to 19, with 36 holes played each day for a total of 144 holes at Sancheoneo Park Golf Course No. 1 and No. 2. The competition will be conducted in an individual stroke play format.

The tournament will be held across four divisions, including men's and women's general and senior categories.

More than 400 players who passed the cut in eight preliminary rounds, as well as the park golf team from Tomakomai, Japan, will participate in the finals. Forty referees will be stationed at the venue.

The final rankings will be determined by the lowest total strokes over four days. In the event of a tie for first place, a sudden death playoff will be held; for second place and below, the back count method will be used.

The male and female MVPs will each receive a prize of 30 million won, a trophy, and the prestigious green jacket.

The total prize pool amounts to 191.2 million won, a significant increase from last year's 130.4 million won, with 10 million won for first place, 5 million won for second, and 3 million won for third in each division.

Players who pay the 60,000 won entry fee for the finals will receive a Hwacheon Love Gift Certificate worth 40,000 won and local agricultural products worth 20,000 won, which is expected to make a substantial contribution to the local economy.

Now in its fourth year since its inception in 2022, the Hwacheon Sancheoneo National Park Golf Festival is the largest in Korea in terms of both participants and prize money, and is regarded among enthusiasts as the "major of majors."

This year, as in previous years, more than 3,600 enthusiasts from Seoul, the greater metropolitan area, and across the country participated in the preliminary rounds held from August 19 to September 10.

Choi Moonsoon, Mayor of Hwacheon County, stated, "The prestige and popularity of the Hwacheon Sancheoneo Park Golf Festival are rising significantly every year," and added, "We are doing our utmost to ensure this event develops into an iconic K-Park Golf tournament representing Korea."

The 2025 Hwacheon Sancheoneo National Park Golf Festival is hosted by the Hwacheon County Sports Association and sponsored by Hwacheon County, the Korea Park Golf Association, the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Park Golf Association, and the Hwacheon County Park Golf Association.
