Busan Metropolitan City and the Busan Institute of Science, Technology and Education Promotion (BISTEP, President Kim Youngbu) will host the 11th Busan R&D Week at Exhibition Hall 2 of BEXCO over two days, September 25 and 26.
Held under the theme "Reigniting Busan with Future Innovative Technologies," this event has established itself as a leading science and technology event representing Busan. Every year, key players from industry, academia, research, and government gather to discuss regional science and technology innovation strategies and to strengthen practical cooperation networks, enhancing its status as a participatory platform.
This year, more than 10 programs focused on future technologies such as artificial intelligence and biotechnology are planned. Notable events include the Busan Association of Science and Technology Professionals Policy Forum, the R&D Excellence Presentation, the Science and Technology Policy Roundtable, the Busan Future Technology Innovation Forum, the AI Policy Colloquium, a Mini Symposium (Future of Biohealth Tech), the RISE and Glocal Innovation Discussion, and the R&D Planning Capacity-Building Seminar.
The keynote speech will be delivered by former Vice Chairperson of the National Science and Technology Advisory Council, Yeom Hanwoong, on the topic of "Science and Technology Policy in an Era of Innovation and Transition." The invited lecture will be given by Ahn Hyunshil, Vice President of Research at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), under the theme "The Final Industrial War in the AI Era: What Is the Regional Science and Technology Strategy?"
Kim Youngbu, President of BISTEP, said, "This R&D Week is a meaningful opportunity to explore Busan's future technology strategies centered on AI and biotechnology innovative technologies," adding, "It will serve as a chance for local science and technology professionals to share insights and strengthen their cooperation networks."
