Gwangju Global Motors (GGM) announced on September 14 that it will conduct an open recruitment for technical and general positions in the second half of the year.
With strong domestic and international sales of the Casper, GGM has significantly increased its production of electric vehicles and export models this year. To fill vacancies, the company will hire a total of 27 local talents for mutual growth, including 22 technical staff and 5 general staff.
This recruitment follows the hiring of 33 employees in March, marking the second open recruitment this year. The first half recruitment saw a high competition ratio of 26 to 1.
The application period runs from September 15 to 29, and applicants must complete an artificial intelligence (AI) competency assessment by the afternoon of September 30, after submitting their applications.
Applications can be submitted through the recruitment website. Afterward, candidates will go through document screening, interviews, and health checks, with the final successful applicants to be announced in November.
This open recruitment by GGM serves as a beacon of hope for young people in the region struggling to find jobs due to the local economic downturn, earning it the reputation of being the "Hope for Gwangju Jobs." The region is facing increasing economic challenges, including the simultaneous downturn of the electronics and construction industries in Gwangju, involuntary leaves for employees due to fires at major corporate factories, and a recession in the Yeosu Petrochemical Industrial Complex.
Despite these adverse conditions, GGM currently employs 682 regular staff and contributes to revitalizing the local economy through mutual growth with local companies. Notably, 90% of the new hires are from Gwangju and Jeonnam, and 85% are in their 20s and 30s.
A GGM representative stated, "GGM was established as a company with a social contribution mission to create jobs for local youth. Through this open recruitment, we will select mutual growth-oriented local talent through a transparent and fair process, providing hope to young people in the region who are struggling to find employment."
The representative added, "If strong domestic and international sales of the Casper continue and customer trust in GGM grows, it may become possible to operate two shifts, day and night, in the future. This would require an additional 300 employees, leading to significant job creation, establishing GGM as a sustainable small but strong company, and making it a valuable workplace where local youth can work in their hometowns with peace of mind."
