Gokseong County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Cho Sangrae) announced on September 12 that the Gokseong County Agricultural Technology Center and the RISE Project Group of Jeonnam Science University held a meeting on September 11 to explore ways to strengthen the competitiveness of local agriculture.
The purpose of the meeting was to identify various collaborative projects that could link industry, academia, and government in response to the rapidly changing agricultural environment, including climate change, rural aging, and a shortage of agricultural labor, and to establish practical cooperation models.
In particular, in-depth discussions were held on how to connect the on-site needs of farmers, as experienced by the Agricultural Technology Center, with the research and technological capabilities of the RISE Project Group at Jeonnam Science University.
The main topics discussed at the meeting included: expanding the distribution of smart agriculture technologies; developing customized educational programs for farmers; and promoting research and pilot projects for specialized crops. Participants expressed expectations that cooperation between the two institutions in these areas would greatly contribute to solving problems in the agricultural sector and discovering future growth engines.
An official from the County Agricultural Technology Center said, "This meeting was a meaningful opportunity to share local agricultural issues and to seek various solutions in cooperation with the university," adding, "We will continue to strengthen the links between industry, academia, and government to implement policies and projects that meet the needs of farmers."
A representative from the RISE Project Group at Jeonnam Science University also stated, "We will actively connect the university's research capabilities and human resources with the local field to achieve tangible results," emphasizing, "Together with Gokseong County, we will develop a sustainable model for agricultural development."
With this meeting as a starting point, the Gokseong County Agricultural Technology Center and the RISE Project Group at Jeonnam Science University plan to establish a close cooperative relationship and, through regular consultations in the future, enhance the competitiveness of local agriculture and present a vision for the future of agriculture.
