Sunmoon University and Nuintech Join Hands to Establish Departments for Future Mobility and Smart Factories

Sunmoon University is partnering with Nuintech, the nation’s leading capacitor manufacturer, to foster talent specializing in future mobility and smart factories.

This initiative is being recognized as a representative model for the dissemination of achievements under the Chungnam RISE (Regional Innovation-centered University Support System) project, and is expected to serve as a foundation for regional industrial innovation.

On September 8, Sunmoon University announced that it had signed an agreement at Nuintech’s headquarters (CEO Jang Kisoo) to establish the Department of AI Mobility Convergence Engineering and the Department of Smart Factory Convergence Engineering.

Nuintech, a KOSDAQ-listed company and the top capacitor manufacturer in Korea, is the exclusive supplier of key components for Hyundai and Kia’s electric vehicle platform (E-GMP), and also supplies parts for General Motors electric vehicles through LG Magna.

Recently, the company has accelerated its entry into the global electric vehicle market by independently developing base film, a core raw material for deposition films used in electric vehicles.

Through this agreement, Sunmoon University will establish the Department of AI Mobility Convergence Engineering, which will focus on AI and big data-based mobility education, and the Department of Smart Factory Convergence Engineering, which will focus on smart manufacturing and automation.

Nuintech will support curricula that reflect on-site corporate demand, engage in joint research, and commit to hiring students from these contract-based departments, thereby strengthening the system for nurturing industry-tailored talent.

Kwon Jinbaek, head of the Sunmoon University RISE Project Group, stated, "This is a win-win model where the university, companies, and the region grow together," adding, "We will enhance the regional industrial competitiveness in core areas of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, such as AI, electric vehicles, and smart factories."

Jang Kisoo, CEO of Nuintech, said, "In the future, competition will be driven not only by technology but also by talent," and added, "Through collaboration with Sunmoon University, we aim to advance in the global market and contribute to the development of the regional innovation ecosystem."
